Meet Thooyamalli, a native and indigenous rice variety, aptly named after the jasmine flower in Tamil. The rice panicle (kadhir) of Thooyamalli blossoms in a whitish hue, distinguishing it from other rice varieties that lean towards golden tones. The grains, resembling the purity of jasmine flowers, complete the visual poetry of this unique rice variety. This rice was cultivated organically in Cheyyaar and harvested on February 2022. We have consciously parboiled and aged the rice.
In the vast tapestry of indigenous rice varieties, each boasting distinctive shapes, tastes, colors, fragrances, and nutritional compositions, Thooyamalli stands as a remarkable, self-sustaining paddy.
Our commitment to minimal processing ensures that the inherent nutrients in Thooyamalli rice remain intact. Scaling up these traditional varieties through intercropping and sustainable agriculture is our pledge to promote wholesome and healthy living.
Now, let’s delve into the laboratory insights that illuminate Thooyamalli’s nutritional profile.
1. Vitamin B12 Richness:
- Thooyamalli is renowned for its Vitamin B complex, particularly B12. The structure of the grain, with a larger surface area of bran and germ, enhances its concentration of essential vitamins and minerals. Nature, it seems, has provided a natural remedy for our quest for B12 fortified foods. 😊
- Vitamin B12 is known to fortify nerves and provide an instant energy boost. Notably, Thooyamalli boasts a lower glycemic load compared to other white rice varieties.
2. Fibrous Goodness:
- Thooyamalli, akin to matta rice, is hard, substantial, and nutty, yet distinctively white even in its handpounded form. The abundant fiber content aids in promoting bowel regularity and facilitating the smooth movement of digested food in the intestine.
- These fibers play a vital role in repairing internal organ wear and tear, contributing to the building of innate immunity. Thooyamalli is considered a source of good carbs, easily digestible by the body.
3. Protein and Calcium Boost:
- Lab results reveal that Thooyamalli is notably high in protein and calcium compared to other white rice varieties, affirming its status as a wholesome and nutritious choice.
In conclusion, Thooyamalli, with its rich tapestry of nutrients and unique characteristics, stands as a testament to the wonders of nature and our dedication to bringing you the very best. 🌾 ❤️
