Sprouted & Deskinned Castor Seeds at Goodness Farm – A Traditional Softening Agent for Idli Batter
At Goodness Farm, we process castor seeds through a meticulous, natural method that enhances their usability while retaining their functional benefits:
Processing Method:
- Optimized Soaking – Seeds are soaked in water for an ideal duration to initiate enzymatic activity, improving digestibility and reducing anti-nutrients, and to reduce the ricin content.
- Sprouting Activation – The soaked seeds are kept under controlled conditions to sprout, enhancing their nutrient profile and bioavailability.
- Deskinned with Precision – Once sprouted, the outer husk is gently removed, making the inner part softer and easier to incorporate into food applications.
- Low-Temperature Drying (if required) – To ensure shelf stability without losing nutritional value, the seeds are dried at a mild temperature.
Uses of Sprouted & Deskinned Castor Seeds in Idli Batter:
- Natural Softening Agent – Traditionally, sprouted and deskinned castor seeds are added to idli batter to improve fermentation and give idlis a soft, fluffy texture.
- Enhances Fermentation – The natural enzymes in sprouted seeds help in microbial activity, leading to better leavening.
- Rich in Nutrients – Contains beneficial compounds that support gut health and digestion.
NOTE- ADD 3-4 of these Sprouted & Deskinned Castor Seeds for around 1 kg of Idli Batter while grinding.
