Step into the world of Seeraga Samba Rice, an aromatic treasure celebrated for its fragrance and exclusively reserved for biryani and pulav aficionados, akin to the revered basmati.
Cultivation and Provenance: Our journey with Seeraga Samba began with the broadcast of indigenous seeds during Aadi Pattam 2021. Sourced meticulously from the Vellapallam Organic farming community in Nagapattinam district, these seeds were nurtured in paddy fields spanning 4 acres. Transplanted in late August 2021, the saplings flourished, culminating in a bountiful harvest in the first week of February 2022. Unlike high-yielding hybrid varieties, we embraced the resilience of indigenous seeds, fostering sustainability and preserving traditional agricultural practices.
Aromatic Excellence: Characterized by its diminutive size and luxurious fragrance, Seeraga Samba Rice has earned a reputation for its remarkable flavor-absorbing properties. This aromatic quality contributes to its premium price tag, as connoisseurs appreciate the distinctiveness it imparts to culinary creations.
Etymology: Seeraga Samba owes its name to the Tamil word “seeragam,” signifying cumin seeds. This nomenclature arises from the rice’s physical resemblance to cumin seeds—both small and ovular. The term “samba” aligns with the seasonal growth period, typically spanning from August to January, creating a harmonious connection between its name and the season of cultivation.
Nutritional Riches: Our Food laboratory analysis unveiled the nutritional wealth within Seeraga Samba. It stands out for its richness in selenium, copper, and high fiber content. Furthermore, it exhibits a lower starch content compared to common white rice varieties, contributing to its status as a health-conscious choice.
In essence, Seeraga Samba Rice goes beyond mere sustenance; it embodies a journey of tradition, fragrance, and nutritional excellence. Elevate your culinary experiences with the aromatic symphony of Seeraga Samba. 🌾
