Corn Puttu is not just a delicious traditional dish but also a powerhouse of nutrition! Experience the authentic taste of our homemade, pure, and aromatic Corn Puttu, made using the native maize.
Processing Steps:
✅ Thorough Washing: Corn is carefully cleaned to remove any impurities.
✅ Soaking: It is soaked in water for a few hours to enhance texture.
✅ Shade Drying: Water is drained, and the grains are shade-dried to preserve nutrients.
✅ Powdering & Roasting: The dried corn is finely ground into flour and then slow-roasted on a low flame for over an hour to enhance aroma and shelf life.
How to Prepare Corn Puttu:
✅ Step 1: Take a mixing bowl and add 1.5 cups of corn puttu flour along with the required amount of salt.
✅ Step 2: Sprinkle water little by little and mix well until the flour is evenly moist. If lumps form, pulse the mixture in a blender for a few seconds.
✅ Step 3: Prepare the Puttu Kudam (Puttu Maker) by adding water to the base and placing it on the stove.
✅ Step 4: Start layering:
- Add 2 tbsp of grated coconut to the puttu mold.
- Add a portion of the prepared corn flour mixture. Do not press too tightly to allow proper steaming.
- Repeat the process until the mold is filled.
✅ Step 5: Place the filled puttu mold on the steamer and let the steam escape through the top. Wait for a few minutes before switching off the heat.
✅ Step 6: Gently push out the steamed Corn Puttu using the stick provided with the puttu maker.
Your fragrant, soft, and healthy Corn Puttu is now ready to be served! Enjoy it hot with sugar, jaggery, banana, or your favorite spicy gravies!
